Some of you will think I'm nuts (so what else is new LOL!), but I LOVE snow!!  I always get excited when the fluffy white stuff descends from the sky.Smile  To me, a fresh snowfall is not only beautiful, it's peaceful as well.

I'm watching the first flakes of wet snow come down outside my windows as I type this.  There won't be any accumulation where I live - we'll get mostly rain - but the northern and western part of the state are due for 3 to 5 inches.

I like to do threads like this and feel free to add your own photos.  Let's celebrate the winter season.Thumbs%20Up

These photos are what it will look like shortly to the north of me.  They are actual photos from Maine...

Dream!

I'm loving this thread!
Beautiful shots here, and I too get like a little kid when it snows, and while it's snowing... and even knowing it's on the way!
But it's the part that happens later that I've grown tired of... shoveling, break out the snow blower, chipping the ice and the related glare ice that allows your all wheel drive to now also drive sideways. *lol*.
That part gets old...
But damn, it sure is beautiful, isn't it!

especially
when there is
no particular place to go...
with a roaring fire...

I always think of this...

Oh,The Weather Outside is Frightful.
But The Fire Is So Delightful
And We Haven't A Place To Go
Let It Snow
Let It Snow
Let It Snow!

...Oh, Let it Snow!

PERFECT additions, GENO!!ClapClapClapClap

That fire looks so inviting and what pretty photos on the "Let It Snow" video.  Boyz II Men did a great job with their song.  Thanks.Smile

I hear ya regarding ice.  It's not fun except to skate on.  With global warming we get too much of it now.  I prefer a good old fashioned snow storm - it's easier to clean up and get around in afterwards.

I feel like this when it snows...

But, I know there are folks who feel like this...

Hi Misty,
It reminded Jimmy of the same thing.  LOL!
Those "Great Lakes' cities" get a ton of snow, ice,  and wind.   YIKES!!!  I love snow but hate any wind. Like Geno said, it sure is pretty.

Misty & S.S., many people feel like Misty and Jimmy so we call them "snow birds" here because they head south or west..  I wouldn't like it where it was warm/hot all year.  I prefer the four seasons.  It's different strokes for different strokes.

More for those who like it.  LOL!! A little dog sledding for S.S..Smile  It is pretty...

Wonderful!!!

I grew up outside of Philadelphia. . . so I'm well aquatinted with the seasons. It was a great place to grow up. You have to make preparations. You have to THINK!!!

Out here in San Diego. . . you can be homeless with a view of the ocean. . . and life is good (unless your tent burns up every 20 years or so).

I hear you Misty. I too moved west because I like warm weather. San Diego actually does have seasons; and I enjoy them. If I want snow. . . it's a short drive to the mountains. However, it's not the same kind of snow as back east.

I love that old photo of the sleds Dream. It reminds me so much of what we used to do.

. . . and the best memory was. . . listening to the radio and finding out that my school was going to be closed due to the snow!!! YES!!!

Geno. . . I LOVED those videos!!!

Here's what it's doing where I live today.  It's falling so gently and softly sticking to the trees, lawns and the roof tops.  It's not sticking to the streets, and alas it will all be gone by Thanksgiving when we expect rain.Cry

We're getting snow by the bucketloads today!!!  10 inches or so and it's blowing and drifting.  We may get some sleet later on.  Things won't wind down until sometime tomorrow.

This will be fabulous for all the families that head to the slopes during Christmas vacation!!

Hi Evreybody!

Toad, They got it worse to our west and north. The Nor'easter didn't bring us snow here this time... some freezing rain... then lots of rain and temps in the high 30's/low 40's... with hefty wind out there right now.. and now that it's clear again... 32 cold and sinking at this nano-second on the "D" Street Deck... So we got to skip the shoveling part this time... (yeah...!) I would have had no time.

Jeff, You didn't get any snow over there did Ya?

Dream... are Ya snowed in up there?

Lindz... Ya still sore from shoveling?

I think Mixey, Soul Sister and Misty etc., are probably sunbathing right now and laughing at us when we talk about shoveling snow!
*lol*

The caption says... "Ready for a snowball fight, about 1910. Photographer John Nelson of Erickson, Nebraska, took this shot." from a fascinating sight on historical photograph, etc- here: http://www.nebraskahistory.org/lib-arch/research/photos/digital/history.htm - www.nebraskahistory.org

Nope, not snowed in. Mainiacs know how to deal with the stuff.  Thank goodness, no ice where I live.  They did get some along the coast.  Ice is much worse to deal with than snow.

We're supposed to get a 36 hour storm starting Wednesday.  No intensity to it, but it will accumulate over time.

This will be the first white Christmas we've had in several years.  Temps are set to rise next week.

I have been digging out, and running the snow blower all day today.
I still have a ways to go. Early this morning, a house two doors down from me caught on fire. All my friends called me to see if it was my house.
No such luck. If mine would have burnt, I wouldn't have to worry about it being foreclosed a month from now. Tisk Tisk..Maybe next time Georgia
Lightning strikes in my hood, It will hit my house!!!!

before next month!
Would that work?

Thanks, S.S.!!! Clap You've cleared up the mystery.  Tom's does look very similar to the restaurant in the snow photo.

We had yet another 5 or 6 inches of snow last nite.  Very beautiful here in the mountains. Here are some of my closest friends from just outside our yard today...

Hi Nikki,
Beautiful shot, beautiful deer, they seem so at home.
The Poconos is a beautiful area. I love the mountains wherever I can experience them anymore.

Speaking of snow, we got another 8 or nine inches yesterday.  This is the first winter in years reminicent of the winters we had when I was growing up.

It's absolutely gorgeous outside.  We're in for a cold snap for a couple of days, and then it will warm into the 40's when we will see some melting.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

It is, Geno!!  Great photo.  We got our first taste overnight.  It's melted off the streets now, but still some left on the lawns.

I always love the first snow.  It gives me a sense of peace and a good feeling that all is right in the world.Smile

I'm glad you brought this thread back.  We had such fun with it last year and we will again this Winter.

Those "nor'easters" are something, Jeff.  Actually, I love a good one.  It's fun to cozy up in your jammies, eat great food and watch old movies. Enjoy the beauty it brings in the aftermath.  Prepare ahead of time so you don't have to go out and drive in it.LOL

Beautiful pictures Dream but I can't take it no more!  LOL!  I'm counting down my last winters here in Philly and after this one, I'll have 3 more to go!  Only liked snow when we had off from school other than that: phooey!  LOL!

I love your snow pictures, and I remember loving it so much, when I lived in PA.

But I was born in California... and I've been here full time since 1978.

I get excited by our version of winter weather, which brings in FOG.

I Loveeeeee FOG!

This is La Jolla in winter... Sometimes.  Mostly it's bright and sunny.  This ocean fog was a gift:
