If you'll recall back in 2004...
This is what happened...

A growing wave, traveling, from an earthquake far away...
and what started out so seemingly calm grew to a monster
that killed hundreds of thousands in 2004 -
(229,866 people lost, including 186,983 dead and 42,883 missing.}

This picture...

from this video...
-Tsunami in Phuket Thailand in 2004, -

(Caution - this is raw, unedited graphic footage
of what happens in 15 minutes of a Tsunami -
the sea first calmly recedes in Sunset Bay...
then returns... relentlessly.)

and in Sri Lanka
December 26,2004...

Update 2008...

I wanted to add this video to this post

— Tsunami na Indonésia-Missões na Indonésia —

...So very sad.

You know Geno. . .
I've thought about these things a lot, being by the ocean.
There is a huge fault line offshore, that runs parallel to the beach here in the San Diego area.
I always told my son, since he was little, that if ever the water recedes, don't get curious. . . get the hell out of there, and head for very high ground. . . don't look back. . . look to take pictures. . . or any of that bs. . . just keep moving on up.
I used to dive. . . doing environmental studies, etc.  I've seen that falult line. . . WOW what a drop.  Very frightening underwater.
The power of just a foot of water, especially moving very quickly is mind boggling.  There's nothing within our general comprehension that alerts us successfully to how this "little wave" can be such a killer.
Even the videos that you posted, can't really capture why it's so devastating.  It's unfortunately something that has to be experienced first hand to be believed.
Great post, Gene.  You did it AGAIN!!

Some Tsunami waves can reach speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
They can be a foot high, or 100 feet high.
If you have ever tried to pick up a 5 gallon can of water, you know how heavy 5 gallons of water is.A One square foot container contains over 7 gallons of water. One square foot=seven gallons.
Imagine how much weight, and how many gallons of water are within a wave that is ten feet high, and maybe 30 feet across at the base, that
is a mile long. The energy contained in this wave is staggering.

Down, and nearly out in Detroit......

Mixey and Toad.

Yes, the power of water flowing or moving is a nearly unstoppable force, and imagine the long waveforms that these waves travel in are moving at up to 500 miles per hour. Frightening!

Here's the latest from BBC News:

— Rescuers assess quake-hit Sumatra —

"There are fears some people may be still trapped in the rubble
Relief teams are assessing the damage on Indonesia's island of Sumatra which was hit by two massive earthquakes.
At least nine people are known to have been killed and some 40 injured in the undersea tremors and a series of aftershocks on Wednesday and Thursday."

"Tsunami warnings were repeatedly issued and lifted, as many people ran inland fearing a repeat of the 2004 tsunami..." - BBC News (continued here)

"You could see the road as if it was waving, people could hardly walk
so they just lay flat on the road"
reports Zulkifli Lubis (Bengkulu journalist)">

And MIXEY... You wrote:
"I used to dive. . . doing environmental studies, etc. I've seen that fault line. . . WOW what a drop. Very frightening underwater.

I do remember You telling me about this before, it must be awesome to see and "feel" while diving, and in light of the potential that this fault has the power to do... frightening. I hope for all of us that it remains as dormant as possible for a very long, long time!

...and it's been pretty busy in Your neck of the woods lately too...">

—Tsunami warning! Pacific!—
Hawaii now Evacuating Coastal Areas Now-
Tsunami Warning Sirens will Sound within the Hour~">

"A massive earthquake has hit the coast of Chile, killing dozens of people, flattening buildings and triggering a tsunami.

The 8.8-magnitude quake, the country’s largest in 25 years, shook the capital Santiago for a minute and half at 3:34am (6:34am GMT) today."

"A tsunami warning has been extended across 53 countries, including most of Central and South America and as far as Australia, Hawaii and Antarctica."

The wave has already caused serious damage to the sparsely populated Juan Fernandez islands, off the Santiago coast, and is now travelling across the ocean at several hundred km per hour.

The death toll in Chile has reached 78+ and is still rising according to President Michelle Bachelet, who has declared a “state of catastrophe” in the country.

Calling for calm from an emergency response centre, the outgoing president said: “We have had a huge earthquake, with some aftershocks.

“Despite this, the system is functioning. People should remain calm. We’re doing everything we can with all the forces we have. Any information we will share immediately.”

The quake hit near the town of Maule, 200 miles southwest of Santiago, at a depth of 22 miles underground.

The epicentre was just 70 miles from Concepcion, Chile’s second-largest city, where more than 200,000 people live along the Bio Bio river.

In Santiago buildings collapsed and phone lines and electricity were brought down, but the full extent of the damage is still being determined.

Santiago airport has been shut down and will remain closed for at least the next 24 hours after the passenger terminal suffered major damage.

Chilean television is showing images of destroyed buildings and damaged cars, with rubble-strewn streets.

Dozens of people were seen roaming through the streets, some wheeling suitcases behind them and others gathering around open fires to keep warm.

Santiago resident Simon Shalders said: "There was a lot of movement. The houses were really shaking, walls were moving backwards and forwards, and doors were swinging open.”

About 65,000 British tourists visit Chile each year, according to the country’s tourist authority.

The Foreign Office has updated its travel information for people planning to go to Chile, saying: “The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is in contact with our embassy in Santiago in order to establish the facts on the ground.

“Communications are sporadic. We will update this advice over the next few hours.”

In the coastal city of Vina del Mar, the earthquake struck just as people were leaving a disco, Julio Alvarez told a local radio station. “It was very bad, people were screaming, some people were running, others appeared paralyzed. I was one of them.”

Several big aftershocks later hit the south-central region, including ones measuring 6.9, 6.2 and 5.6.

The earthquake was caused by the floor of the Pacific being pushed below South American land mass.

This sudden jerking of the sea-floor displaced water and triggered a tsunami, which is now crossing the ocean at a speed of a jet plane.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a warning for Chile and Peru, and a less-urgent tsunami watch for Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica and Antarctica."

... A spokesman said: "Sea level readings indicate a tsunami was generated. It may have been destructive along coasts near the earthquake epicentre and could also be a threat to more distant coasts."

The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Center also warned of a “potential tsunami threat to New South Wales state, Queensland state, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island".

Any potential wave would not hit Australia until Sunday morning local time, it added.

All Pacific islands including Hawaii and the Easter Islands have also received warnings.

On the Easter Islands people are now seeking higher ground before the wave strikes.

Earthquakes are relatively common in Chile, which is part of the pacific “ring-of-fire” tectonic-plate boundary, and many buildings are built to withstand tremors." ... ... ... - (continued here)

LUCKI:Y... Hawaii dodged a Tsunami bullet,..

No damage, Thank Goodness, but look at this...

"Boats in Santa Cruz Harbor in California were temporarily left sitting on sand when the tsunami triggered by Saturday's earthquake in Chile hit. (Feb, 28)"

~~~~~~~~ NOTE:
Ok, thank goodness that damage was minimal here in the above videos, but take note of something that I assumed that everybody knew as a major warning sign. When you are near the water, especially in a harbor or beach area, and the water suddenly recedes and drops several feet....
Luckily, this DID NOT happen here in the video above, but if it did, all of the people casually walking on those bottomed out boat docks could have been easily killed.
Do people ever learn anything from paying attention to HOW nature sometimes works?
"This clip from Ocean Fury: Tsunamis in Alaska recounts the devastating 1964 Good Friday earthquake that generated killer tsunamis and killed 100 Alaskans, and forever altered the communities of Seward, Kodiak, Whittier, Valdez and other Alaska communities. Witnesses describe the events of that fateful day, and scientists, local officials and emergency responders discuss the steps taken to prevent the loss of life when the next big quake strikes...."
Hi Geno & Nora!
Yes... doing fine out here re the recent quakes.  They are all happening farther inland and mostly to the south of us... but we can still feel them sometimes a little.
When the "Easter 7.2 Quake" hit in Baja, Mexico, our chandeliers swayed back and forth a bit... not too much; and the rolling made us feel a little unsteady on our feet for about a minute.  It happened twice.
My 2 kitties were on the bed for the first one, and couldn't have cared less.  When the aftershock hit, McCloud was still on the bed.  He yawned and decided to look out the window, before resuming his nap.  Jade, however was on the floor and felt it.  He looked at me for verification, and then ran and hid under the dining room table.  For about an hour, he was convinced that I caused it.  He felt safer after I gave him a little treat. Tongue
Thanks for keeping watch.
Much Love,
~~~~Hi Mixey!

Yes, these stories have been capturing my interest, with respect to methane and or radon releases from the Earth etc...
and yet, as bizzare as it all sounds with the media hype factors added in, it appears to actually be "quite normal"... go figure! Something smells fishy here. - Why Are Birds Falling From the Sky?
The ground truth about this week's bird deaths in Arkansas and elsewhere. (National Geographic)
"... At any given time there are "at least ten billion birds in North America ... and there could be as much as 20 billion—and almost half die each year due to natural causes," said ornithologist Greg Butcher, director of bird conservation for the National Audubon Society in Washington, D.C.

But what causes dead birds to fall from the sky en masse? The Arkansas case points to two common culprits: loud noises and crashes. ... ..."

but wait... there's more: - "—Fracking the life out of Arkansas and beyond—"
January 5th, 2011
By Rady Ananda
"...Jan. 7 UPDATE: Missing from this report is the information that the US military apparently drilled 500 deep wells in Central Arkansas to dispose of phosgene, a highly toxic gas that causes the respiratory system to explode. (As reported below, deep well drilling causes earthquakes.) According to the EU Times, Russia’s spy agency, GRU, reported that the US relocated 63,000 metric tons of phosgene from Iraq to the Arkansas' Pine Bluff Arsenal, the nation’s premier chemical and bio weapons lab. Some or most of this material was and continues to be relocated to Afghanistan. ... "

"A spokesperson for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission "said the birds showed evidence of trauma in the breast tissue, with blood clots in the body cavity and a lot of internal bleeding. All major organs were normal."

"Bioweapons expert John Wheeler threatened to expose the operation and, according to GRU, was killed for it. ~ RA... ... ... "

And January 10th 2011... this story just gets even more bizzare!!!!!!!!!!!

"John Wheeler's Death/ Bird Kills Linked?"
January 9th, 2011 10:33 pm ET
The death of a former Bush official has largely gone unnoticed by the media and world in general. John P. Wheeler III, Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force, Washington, D.C. from 2005-2008, was found dead in a landfill on New Years Eve in Wilmington, DE. - more here

— TAMPA - Scientists say the magnetic north pole is moving toward Russia and the fallout has reached -- of all places -- Tampa International Airport.

The airport has closed its primary runway until Jan. 13 to repaint the numeric designators at each end and change taxiway signage to account for the shift in location of the Earth's magnetic north pole.

The closure of the west parallel runway will result in more activity on the east parallel runway and more noise for residential areas of South Tampa.

The busiest runway will be re-designated 19R/1L on aviation charts. It's been 18R/36L, indicating its alignment along the 180-degree approach from the north and the 360-degree approach from the south." ... ... -

Major tsunami damage in northern Japan after 8.9 magnitude earthquake
In various locations along Japan's coast, TV footage showed severe flooding, with dozens of cars, boats and even buildings being carried along by waters. A large ship swept away by the tsunami rammed directly into a breakwater in Kesennuma city in Miyagi prefecture, according to footage on public broadcaster NHK.
Officials were trying to assess possible damage from the quake but had no immediate details.
The quake that struck 2:46 p.m. local time was followed by a series of aftershocks, including a 7.4-magnitude one about 30 minutes later. The US Geological Survey upgraded the strength of the first quake to a magnitude 8.9.
The meteorological agency issued a tsunami warning for the entire Pacific coast of Japan. National broadcaster NHK was warning those near the coast to get to safer ground.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii said a tsunami warning was in effect for Japan, Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been issued for Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia and the U.S. state of Hawaii.

Exposed rods spark meltdown fear (click here)
By Richard Black
Environment correspondent, BBC News

"In Tokyo, Tepco officials formally apologised for the Fukushima incident
Q&A: nuclear alert"...

"The fuel rod exposure at Fukushima Daiichi number 2 reactor is potentially the most serious event so far at the plant."

"A local government official confirmed the fuel rods were at one point largely, if not totally exposed; but we do not know for how long."

"What the incident illustrates is the ad-hoc nature of the operation being mounted at Fukushima."

"An official with the Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco), which runs the site, said seawater was being pumped in both by fire engines and via the system installed to extinguish fires in the power station's turbine hall.

"Meltdown wouldn't be a good scenario, but much better it does that than explodes”

"He told BBC News that the use of this methodology had never been foreseen - it had been invented by the team on the ground at Fukushima."

"Even the mere use of seawater in this way is an extraordinary step to take."

"According to the main Japanese news agency Kyodo, the rods were exposed when the flow of seawater into reactor number 2 stopped simply because a fire pump ran out of fuel."

"With the entire region of Honshu island reportedly low on fuel and other vital supplies, a key question is whether plans are in place to keep the power station supplied with diesel."

       When they pulled all but fifty of the workers
 out of that facility... you gotta know things are very
 bad there. Bringing in police type water cannons is
 a last-ditch effort to cool off these reactors, and it's
 a real serious indication that the joint is out of control.
    We could see this thing become worse than Chernobyl with regard to the loss of human life.

             I think nuclear plants pose a threat to all...
 wherever they are located. If we shut them all down,
 we will burn more fossil fuels..of all kinds.
     This will make us even more dependant on the oil
 interests. The oil people already own all the good
 solar tech, and the Chinese have a lock on the wind
 turbines. So now what do we do? It takes a lot
 of power to run America. What power will we use?

Down, and nearly out in Detroit......

We'll continue to rely on the same energy sources.  Oil. Coal. Nuclear.

There is no political will to challenge the vested interests in any
significant way.
The only thing that IS changing is that we are now going after all the
natural gas that is embedded in shale. Now that the Federal
Government has removed all obstacles to hydraulic fracturing, the
energy companies are sweeping through New York State and
Pennsylvania, fracking every pocket of gas in sight. If they haven't
arrived in your town yet they'll probably be there soon. They're making
a ton of money doing this, and are telling us how this will make us
more energy independant.
It's a shame that all the fracking is blowing vast amounts of
carcinogens down into the earth that will eventually find their way into
the water table. But I feel okay, because our politicians and energy
officials have assured us that fracking is safe, and there will be no bad
effects from this activity. Thank heavens they're watching out for us!

Refer to this thread, regarding a petition to release all known information on the radiation levels.

There's also a video that I posted about the other nuclear facility in Japan that has problems, but people are not talking about it. - Nuclear Power Threat... Real of Not... (Thread on Soulful Planet started by Toad)

Wow!!! Earthquake!!!

This one blew right thru here at D'Street today...

— Magnitude ‎5.9 East Coast ... Richmond Virginia... up and down East Coast... DC, Philly NYC,,, past MA and south past NC ... 8/22/2011 1:51:PM Eastern —

... I was mixng an audio track for a video that Marty and I are working on... First a strange "nausea feeling" hit me a little before things got strange here ... I thought it was sub-audio freakout overload... I quickly killed the speakers... then immediately ... I saw the swaying of the gooseneck "lamp" on my Audio console above the Vu meters... it does not "sway"!!! ... then I heard the "creaking" of the building ... I jumped up and ran the hell out of here for the street hollering for Marty (downstairs) to do the same thing... we met outside in like 3 seconds and the plants on the deck were swaying back and forth slightly, too. The whole shaking event probably lasted 45 or 50 seconds or so. I reported these notes to USGS as well.
So wierd when this happens!

Making calls: The cell phones were totally jammed, but my trusty "landline' got thru to family members in PA, but I could not get through to my Dad over in NJ. He just called back... finally. Everybody is ok, but freaked out a little bit as anyone might understand. I went around and checked the building for foundation cracks and or any damage... looks good so far, thank goodness! So there Ya go... - KYW News Radio is wisely telling everybody to expect some aftershocks.

Are We Having Fun Yet? *LoL*

I'm still alive, dream. I experienced it too, which makes two earthquakes I've experienced in my life. Would prefer that this is the last!
I was about a 40 minute drive farther south than Geno, down in Wilmington Delaware, directing a pharmaceutical meeting being held in the
Hotel duPont's beautiful Gold Ballroom ... see below ...
The ballroom is approximately half it's height below ground level and is
situated on the front edge of the hotel building, right on 11th
Street. During general sessions we could occasionally hear the muted
sound of a large truck driving by on 11th St. and we'd feel the rumble of
it's weight as it passed. During the first few seconds of the quake hitting,
the entire tech crew, myself included, thought to ourselves "man, that's
a big-ass truck!" But the shaking continued, and after about five seconds
I realized it was an earthquake. The floor beneath our feet began rising
and falling in waves. The floor in the ballroom is hardwood flooring on top
of a concrete substructure that was originally poured onto the ground
back in 1911. But as firm and solid as this floor was, it began shaking up
and down like it was made out of rubber; it felt like it was raising up an
inch, then sinking back down two inches, then up two inches, over and
over, rapidly. It was surreal to feel a concrete sub-structure rise and fall
like a funhouse floor.
At that precise moment we were in the middle of a presentation - I had
a presenter up on stage, in front of an audience of about 200. In seconds,
everybody realized what was happening. The presenter stopped talking;
everybody started to look around and talk in wonder and confusion. The
light trees in the back of the room began to sway gently, though not
alarmingly; the two enormous seventy year old chandeleers hanging from
the ceiling of the ballroom began to just barely swing, almost
imperceptably, which did worry me... lol
Nobody freaked out or ran for the doors. We all just stayed there, waiting
to see if it would continue or get worse. The shaking was not a violent
sensation; what we felt was an even rhythm of waves, almost gentle, but
significant in strength. To my memory, the duration of the event was about
15 to 20 seconds.
Obviously, the presentation was entirely disrupted. I went to my client and
suggested we take a fifteen minute break to let everyone walk up to lobby
level just in case we needed to exit quickly, or call family members to make
sure everyone was okay. In that fifteen minutes I got an okay from hotel
security that we could continue if we wished, which we did.
It certainly livened up the afternoon!
Geno - I since talked to a few of my friends in the area and most of them
reported feeling the nausea you felt from the subsonic energy of the
quake. Oddly enough - and this didn't even occur to me at the time - I
didn't experience that! Not even being undergound, and closer to the
quake's epicenter than you! Go figure.

Hi Dream... Thanks! Yes, all seems well at the moment.
Mother Nature sure can be amazing!

And Jeff!!! WOW!!! I was wondering where You might be working today, and if You felt this or were in "record" in some way, when it was happening.

I was mixing and "rendering" a 40:00 Min audio file program in ProTools for Marty, and since the power didn't go off it continued rendering to Aif, and hopefully finished normally. I just gave him the CD, I guess we'll know very soon if the render got messed up from "shaking" the hard drive too much in the middle of it all... if it did I'll have to run it again.

Also Jeff... that "nausea" thing was really strange... it only lasted a few seconds... and I clearly felt it a few seconds before anything was actually shaking... I immediately killed the audio volume... reacting to that sensation much like you'd kill the master volume on a big sound system that was just about to go into sub audio feedback... kinda like the same quick impulse reaction of removing your fingers from a hot stove... when I saw the gooseneck light moving side to side over the Vu stereo meters... like we were on a freaking rocking boat... and that tiny stressing, cracking sound up the walls and across the ceiling of a dead quiet room (like cellophane paper being crinkled ever so slightly) ... *LoL* that was it... I was out-a-here! Quick!

Too funny, Marty was downstairs editing on the Avid, and he thought... 'what the hell is Geno doing up there with sub-audio ...whaaat... ELF again?' *LoL* Until he heard me holler and heard the crackly sounds too... and ran out that door in a flash, too.

I wonder if Toad felt any of this in the Big "D" area...

This is interesting.... watch this one"...

also... interesting aside... but the "theories" are firing up again on the net blogosphere,,,

...they have fired up HAARP again to try and knock out the hurricane heading for the east coast of the US, and whooops... it triggered yet another earthquake.

I wonder if we'll be watching a documentary years from now and find out that ... they did! *LoL*

Anyway... glad that everybody is ok right now.
~BigSmiles, Geno

          They said prople in Detroit East of where I live felt it, and In Windsor,Ontario..across the river from
 Detroit. I never felt a thing, but I might have been in the car driving back from where I am painting my latest ax..a few miles away. I remember feeling one, back when I was a kid in high school. It felt like a truck ran into the building on the first story. It was over so quick,
 I barley noticed it. They don't happen in my neck of the woods..nearly ever.

Down, and nearly out in Detroit......

JEFF!!!  What a story & description!!  I think it's great all the people with you didn't panic.  I'm not sure I could have remained as calm as all of you did.  The important thing is you are safe & O.K..Hug
Very rare in these parts, too, Toad.  They did say on the news it was felt as far north as Bath, Maine, which is about 40 miles south of where I live.  I'm glad you didn't feel it and you are safe, too.Hug
Imagine how scary it must have been for the folks in Washington & NYC so close to 9/11.  News reports said many peoples first thought was terrorism.

Well hello there...

We are VERY happy you are all safe, thank goodness!!

I just read all of your posts to Mom. She's very impressed with all of your writing, and she reads A LOT. She said, no wonder so many people read our Soulful Planet. Having lived on both coasts, with earthquake experiences in both places, she really enjoyed all of this and related so well to it. Truly you've made our day!

We've been tracking handbagforever, our lovely spam member who has been wanting to bomb the hell out of this place over the past few nights, and I missed all of this! lol

Now are you ready for the HURRICANE? OMG!!! Please stay safe!!!!

All of your descriptions are amazing regarding the earthquake. I'm imagining the same thing Dream about what it must have been like in NYC and in Washington so close to 9/11.

I'm also thinking... so Washington can't seem to figure out how to create jobs, so mother nature has responded in their back yard.

Stay safe everyone and thank you.

I am NOT looking forward to the hurricane.  So rare here.  I'd much rather have a blizzard than a hurricane any day.  No damage with blizzards.  Food will spoil quickly in this weather, if we lose power for any length of time.   It's going to hit Maine inland instead of on the coast.  YIKES, that almost never happens.  55 million Americans will be affected by this.  NOT COOL!!  Our weather is going crazy!!

Dream, Good Luck up there with this Hurricane Irene craziness...
I think we're all in for a rough time while
hoping for the best on the East Coast this weekend....
an unrelated, soaking, nasty thunderstorm just blew through here an hour ago. The ground is already saturated!

The Navy has just ordered over one hundred+ ships to steam out to sea from ports on the East Coast to get out of the way...

Anyway... back to the Earthquake for a moment... Look at this:">

and more info here:

Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory —

The earthquake was widely felt, with felt reports received from people as far away as Detroit, Atlanta, Boston, Toronto, and Montreal...." - _

This is why summer is my least favorite time of year.  The weather is too hot and himd, severe thunderstorms and tornados can cause tremendous damage.  We'll be getting those thunder boomers later today.  Excessive heat kills more people than any other type of weather.  And now, Irene is bearing down on the East Coast.  Lovely.Ouch

I've had the weather channel on all day, thinking about all of you and remembering all of our other members out there who we haven't heard from for awhile, but I still think of them a lot.

I know Winetender is in NJ and BassenforGod is in the Carolinas I think right?

Geno, I'm thinking about you and Jeff and your families. Please let me know how you are doing if you get a minute and if the internet or phones are still working tomorrow.

Dream, I'm thinking about you up there in Maine too. Who would have thought all of you would be facing this together!!!!!

Toad... you're out of harm's way... am I right?

Irene is going to start hitting Philly in the wee hours of Sunday morning;
come late Sunday morning we should be getting whacked with the worst of it.
I'm expecting my basement to take on water, the power to go out for
at least six hours and some big trees to fall on, or near our property.
Perverseley... I'm starting a week long vacation today...
But Maggie, Madelyn and I have supplies, and we're undaunted...  Clap
we are going to ride it out with good cheer and sass... My daughter
Madelyn rode out a Category 4 Hurricane in Mexico a couple of years ago,
and she's been breaking our balls about how everybody's freaking out
here over a "measley little Category 2 hurricane"...
Geno and I are essentially neighbors; I'm only a 15 minute drive
from his studio, so we'll be experiencing the same weather.
I'll keep you posted if the power stays on!

It's good to hear from you Jeff!!

We've been looking at all of this, and I think that the hurricane category might give a false sense of security to some, even though there are obvious expected threats with trees falling and power lines. There might be massive flooding in areas that have never experienced this sort of thing, and God knows what the ramifications down the way might be with this.

I hope all of you are storing enough clean drinking water for more than the 3 days they are advising... just in case! (not bottled water... tap water in big enough containers so you can use it for whatever you need.

Also... fill up zip lock bags (with enough air for expansion) , with tap water (not for drinking) and put as many as you can in your freezers. If your power goes out, at least you'll keep a cold frig.

The latest information places Irene hitting your area starting Saturday evening (starting between 6-9PM) with the major part of it coming in around Sunday 2 AM.

I wonder why the map below says Sunday 2 PM??? JEEZ!

I'm glad you and Geno and Marty are keeping it together with your families... and it's cool that you have an experienced stormer on your crew.

Let us know how it's going.

We'll be keeping an eye on the path for you too Dream. I hope you're not riding this thing out by yourself. Please let us know.

Much Love to everybody!
