Linz. . .

I think that whatever you copy and paste, gets transferred literally. . . if you copy red... it will paste red. If you copy regular text in black type, it doesn't go to the default forum text color. There must be a way around this.

I'll look into it.

Lindzay,

If you paste text into a post, just highlight the whole thing, and select gray cccccc, or whatever, from the tools, for the color.

Thanx,
C

She's probably not used to receiving that kind of sensitivity from most men, Linz. I'm sure she appreciated it.

How were you inspired to write it?

(Also... what system are you on?  There's all this visible code in your posts that I don't think you can see.)

I just cleaned up the code Lindzay.  I think it is a combination of cut copy paste from myspace plus your system as you said. don't worry about it. I will look in from time to time here and redo to help out.

In a haze of insommnia, I stumbled on the writers section, the poetry thread, and this work of yours. I Thank God for clueless, yet in this case, fortuitous ineptitude, for if this wasn't a constant in my life, I would have never read this poem.

Excellent work, lindzay.

At ninety six, at the time of his death, my Father-in-law used to recite
this poem at family functions to amuse us all. He was a dear, great, and wise man..who lived a long and good life. I miss him, and his humor at all times.
    A poem
By Beecher Duke
"When I was a young man, It was no Disgrace...
I used to hold it down, To keep from Pissin' in my face.."
"But now I'm old, and I'm kinda blue,
I have to hold it up, to keep from Pissin' in my shoe."

This was sent to me by Ray Monette. I don't know the author.

                          A Women's Poem
  He didn't likethe casserole
and he didn't like my cake.
He said my biskets were too hard,
not like his mother used to make.
I didn't perk the coffee right
He didn't like the stew.
I didn't mend his socks
the way his mother used to do.
I pondered for an answer,
I was looking for a clue.
Then I turned and smacked the shit out of him
Like his mother used to do.

This just in...

Toad Does The Village
A New Poetry Show Takes Off Broadway by Storm
(2 hours ago)

Look at some of these Rave Reviews from the Theatre critics in the Village in today's papers about
Toad's Poetry Reading last night!
(and Mixey has a picture of the stage and packed crowd, I think). Here's some of the reviews I found on the net already!

"... I must say that the audience was quite impressed with this unexpected Live Performance and Read by ToadMaster of a classic Work last night at The Poetry Corner at "Mixey"s Place" They were simply screaming, for more." - The Village Throat

"... The packed SRO crowd was ecstatically impressed with Toad's Performance in the Eloquent Read and Benevolent Delivery of such a great masterpiece of quintessential verbiage in Poetry. This show! ...A must see with a reality check chaser, three thumbs, waay up!" - Sigfeld & Eggburnt

"... clearly, this Man, Toad, who builds cars and guitars from scratch,
has found a new new calling in life... Reader of The Poetic Verse... Step aside world, and give this gentleman the stage." - Berty Dabunyip
- NY TimesOffline

(((Mixey... hurry, we need that pic! CNN is on line one! Larry King wants to do an exclusive with Toad asap!)))

"...all that I can say is more, more more!" - Percy Dovetonsils - Frenetic Press International

and more reviews are hitting http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&tab=wn&ned=&q=Toad&btnG=Search+News - Google News as we type this! Amazing!

and even this:

For My Son

Blamed and dispelled...
are winds without hope
Smiling yet hurt. . .
a song's interlope

Nothing and some...
trick minds conceited
Money's intent...
can be deleted

Cast and dispersed...
you're nowhere and found
Wild is the wind...
please come back around

Here's one you might enjoy Linz, as it has a Bowiesk vibe. . .

"My Death"

My death waits
in a narrow box

blobbed with creamed cheese
and spread with lox

Tele-Prompter
lend me your ears

One sliced onion
without tears
