It is indeed my pleasure to announce that my book Bedford Street Memoirs (Living On My Block In The 60's) is now available for purchase. Here is a blurb from the book and purchasing information!!!!!

"Bedford Street Memoirs (Living on My Block in the 60's) is Patricia A. Washington's often moving and deeply sincere acoount of one African-American woman's childhood in 1960's Hartford, Connecticut.

After the untimely death of her mother, her Aunt Hattie brought Patricia from Youngstown, Ohio to Hartford. Between 1962 and 1968, she made new friends and was reunited with her father.

The author writes with youthful verve and a keen eye about the many local characters who drifted in and out of her life during these crucial years, vividly evoking a time and place trhough the pull of pop culture--with fond recollections of the Motown Sound, Millie the Model comic books, television westerns and the Motortown Revue at the Apollo Theater.

In the author's own words, "I know what happened on the block and I've kept it in my heart all this time." Come share in her lovely and sensitive Bedford Street Memoirs.

3.0%20out%20of%205%20stars (RAW Rating: 3.5) - My Block In The 60's, May 1, 2009
After the death of her mother, Patricia Washington came to Bedford Street to live with her aunt and reunite with her father. And although she still did not see her father on a regular basis, the values he instilled in her were the tools that shaped her life. Nestled between the prologue and the epilogue of BEDFORD STREET MEMOIRS is a candid, heartwarming story of Patricia and the memorable years spent in Hartford, Connecticut. From 1962 to 1968 this personal and strangely enlightening story captures the music, the dress, and the culture of the early sixties. The descriptions, of the many characters that drift in and out of a her teenager life are, vivid and entertaining. Her quote, "I know what happened on the block and I've kept it in my heart all this time", is the impetus for her story.

With a sad heart and much regret, Patricia left Bedford Street, but she realizes had she not left, the memories of those six years would not be as endearing. As I mentioned earlier BEDFORD STREET MEMOIRS warms the heart as it gives readers a glimpse of yesterday. With arms stretched wide Patricia invites readers to come and share her sensitive reunion with Bedford Street.
