StarAs 'Wilson Pickett' would say......."I'm happy to be here in your wonderful city!" Smile
I will start with the last three cities I lived in:
JERSEY CITY, N.J. a city I was first brought to by "Smitty" (original lead singer of The Manhattans)  way back in the day, lol! At that time these were the venues that one would go to to see their favorite acts of the day, there was the Stanely & State Theaters that put on large stage show acts where I remember seeing The Moments, The Delfonics, The Manhattans, etc...all on one show, there was Roosevelt Stadium where I saw James Brown, and there were some local clubs that showcased live music.
Jersey City had one of the best "oldies" record stores around "Stan's Square Records", the owner Stan Krause was great to talk music with because not only was he producing groups on his own record label but he had a wealth of knowledge and music history, and knew just about eveyone.  Many times Artists would stop in the store as well.
Jersey City also produced some famous acts such as Roy Hamilton, Ronnie & The Hi-Lites, The Manhattans, Soul Generation, etc... check out the Jersey City thread for more history and photos!
CLEVELAND, OH. a city my husband brought me to live in 10 years ago since it was his hometown. Cleveland has produced many artists in jazz such as my husband "Jimmy Scott", Tad Dameron, Madline Green & Vanessa Rubin to name a few. as well as many soul acts such as The Valentino's, Bobby Womack, Sonny turner (The Platters), The Sensations/Realistics, Edwin Starr, The O'Jays, & Levert.  Big Maybelle resided in Cleveland until her death.
It also is the city where Rock n` Roll started with the D.J. who coined the phrase... 'Alan Freed' with his Moondog radio program and dances. Today Cleveland is the home of "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum" a beautiful archetectual glass building that sits on the waterfront that houses many exhibits of Recording Artists, films, Live Stage Acts, and a wondeful gift shop.  In it's hey-day Cleveland was a stop for many artists to perform, the jazz artists performed in any number of local clubs, there were many where Billie Holiday, Earl Hines, etc...would play, the soul artists had their clubs as well. Today there is Nightown, the Playhouse, State & Allen Theaters, the Ampitheater, etc... where all perform and the Tri-C Jazz Festival, where I saw many shows at all these venues as well as participated in some very special events.
LAS VEGAS, NV. ~ " The Entertainment Capital of the World" ....where Jimmy & I bought a house in June of 2006.  Las Vegas as well as a it's sister city Henderson is the home to many artists who work here as well as travel on tour worldwide. Many soulful artists live here in both jazz & soul music such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gerald Wilson, Harvey Fuqua, Mary Wilson, Gladys Knight, Little Anthony, Eddie Levert, and on and name a few.  The many big hotel & casino's showcase large stage shows but one in particular is Ceaser's Palace & Colosium where you can go see acts like Celine Dion, Elton John, Bette Midler & Cher.  The Orleans Hotel & Casino one of the smaller casino's does oldies shows and soul acts such as The Drifters, Platters, & Coasters package, Temptations, Four Tops, or solo artists like Etta James.
There is something for everyone in our wonderful city!!!  StarStarStarStarStarStarStar
Hope you enjoyed this trip to '3' of America's Musical Cities!!!

Cool Soul Sister.  We didn't have anything up on Las Vegas.
I was wondering who plays in Vegas these days.  It seems like there are a ton of tribute acts, and Cirque Du Soleil  shows.  Even Cirque Du Soleil is doing a tribute...  to The Beatles.
I'm going there in a few months with Mom.  I have no clue who to see.
I have not seen "O".  I think I'd like that.  Of course all of the artists you mentioned are great.
