For those of you who know. . . I have a bar.
The bar is not stocked yet.

If Various Decree would get back over here, maybe they could post what needs to go in the bar... Then again maybe not... lol

Anyway...
If one is stocking a bar...
What goes in it so that everyone's happy?

For me... I'm happy with plain or sparkling water.

If I'm unhappy, I can get happy with Tanquerey & Tonic + a slice of lime.

For beer... I like Scrimshaw...

but my taste may be a lot different than other people's.
I like most of the beers that come from The North Coast Brewing Co.

What do you all suggest?

Thanks,
Mixey

Mixey!

*LOL*!!!

Remember, when stocking a bar, it's often about
getting the mood right.

Yes, what Bar would be complete without
some lively
political statement
&
conversation starters?
... such as...

or possibly...

and... for those who don't drink ale ...

and for those who aren't human...

or for those You just wish
would just leave,
try giving them this...

Ahhh, the creative choices are endless!
(((I can't wait to get Various Decree's 2 cents on this topic! *lol*)))

Happy Bar Stockings!

I love Tanquarey and tonic water, such a good drink.

For beer I am poor so me and my friends settle for PBR, Old Style, and Miller.

I do like IPA, Becks, and Samuel Adams

Two other drinks I love are mudslides and white russians.

Don't forget the wine, nothing beats a good glass of wine.

Geno... I'm rolling !!!!!!!

"Tastes so much like Coke we should sue ourselves"  LOL

"Pet Sweat" LOL

Yes MickeyMac... I really like Gin & Tonic too.  I have not tried Tanquerey Ten... have you?

I know Linz... 7.5% is a little steep.  lol

Speaking of Coke... has anyone ever tried this?
It's supposed to taste like a combination of Coke and chocolate.

MickeyMac. . .

I agree with you on enjoying a nice glass of wine.

I just tried La Rocca Merlot.  It's an organic wine... no detectable sulfites.

It smells wonderful and tastes beautiful too!! My grandfather came from Italy.  He made his own wine.  This wine is the closest that I've found so far to his. Mom said the same thing I was thinking.

If your planning to go out to dinner with friends, and they are at your bar a little early...A real good Bloody Mary will stimulate your appitite,
and get your juices ready for a big meal.
You should have a good blended Canadian Whiskey..Like
Seagram's VO, or Canadian Club
You should have a good southern sour-mash like Black label
Jack Danials or Jim Beam.
Also a fine Bottle of Martel or Hennesey.
For the Ladies...Some Bristol Creme Sherry
These are the basics... for a loaded bar on the cheap

Hi Mixey! Your basic bar is usually set up with Vodka, Gin, Rum, Sweet & Dry Vermouth, Whiskey, Blended Whiskey, Scotch, Brandy, Tequila, Congac & Cordials. All are subject to your brand preference & price range, as are Beers. Also Red wine (a Merlot &/or Cabernet) & White wine (Chablis &/or Chardonay). You may want to use the small juice cans as the juices tend to sour after a day or 2 being opened. It depends on how much You're using; the same with cream/milk. I just spent 3 days cleaning & setting up a bar to open for the Season; Ask me anything ~ Nora

Toad. . . That's cool. . . Thank you.

Nora!!. . . I should have known. . . "winetender". . . lol
Thank you.

Now I'm having a bit of a problem.
Over in Music General, I've been reading the Richie Sambora thread, relating to alcohol addiction; and now I'm all messed up in my thinking.

What the hell is the right thing to do?  I enjoy a drink now and then.  I've had incidents when I've been plastered out of my mind too.  I want to be more sociable, like I used to be.  I've been so cocooned lately, I hardly know myself anymore; and the addition of a bar looks like a step in a more gregarious direction.

People don't really have to drink in order to enjoy themselves.  Maybe I shouldn't be thinking alcohol at all, because some people don't just enjoy. . . they become ill.

There's a part of me that feels like I don't want to contribute to another person's illness. . . and another part that feels like it's another person's choice to do or overdo as they see fit.

What should I do. . . make the bar into a water / juice / coffee / tea / sushi / sashimi / icecream / or whatever else O2 / popcorn / sandwich / fingerfood bar?  Or should I include alcoholic drinks too?

If I was in Holland, I suppose I'd be wondering if I should stock it with marijuana too.

When I read what you guys are posting... it sounds good to me.  There's something wonderful about seeing all of those beautiful bottles and knowing that you can make your friends feel at home.

I don't like making decisions for people... and pretending to know more than someone else about what is or isn't bad for them.

Also in that light

I still think it's waaaay more about
getting the mood right
or the "ambiance" that lends itself to
"sampling" a new wine, beer... or enjoying an old favorite
during some
great conversation, fun, music, darts, pool or whatever...
waaay more than... trying to supply an endless stream pipeline
of over the top mass booze consumption via direct injection!
*lol* That's probably not the goal, and is obviously dangerous to humans. *lol*

1 tequila, 2 tequila, floor... is no fun for anyone... ever.

Even floors have been known to complain.

   Mixey,
I don't have a bar in my new crib, But I do have about 10 bottles
of Various booze in case some friends stop by. Please don't feel
guilty about having a drink or 10 at times. Getting a good buzz
can help sometimes.
It's one of the last freedoms we still can enjoy without being
taxed to death over!!!
