I watched the opening ceremonies last night.
It's sad that the International Olympic Committee has taken down all of the YouTubes due to copyrite issues.  Don't they understand that when you can watch it again... or post it in a thread... it makes people want to watch MORE!!!

It was a spectacular show!  The lighting was incredible... very hi tech... very well thought out flow, personal and very welcoming.

There is a major cloud however, over these Olympic Games.  During a practice run, the nation of Georgia's 21 year old athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili died on the luge track.  Why would this track have been constructed with metal bars like this?

Nodar was remembered at the beginning and at the end of the opening ceremonies.  There was a minute of silence in his honor, before the torch lighting.  When the huge torch delayed in rising from the floor of the stadium, it felt like more of the same.

I'll continue to watch as time allows.  Vancouver is a beautiful city...

Here, I'm outing myself... Maggie and I still love to watch The Olympics.

I can still enjoy the competitions despite the onward creep of commercialism in the broadcasts ... that's the price of watching network TV. It's a shame there's so much overt hyping of certain key athletes while so many others are outright ignored; there are so many fascinating personal stories that are never revealed.

But c'est la vie. I'll probably watch a little tonight with my sweetie before I hit the sack.

Hard to watch live on tv for me because of the time zone  differences but I try to follow what's going out there on olympics.

I am waiting for the figure skating...I have been watching the  figure skating since when I was a liitle child. Our skater Tugba Karademir will be there to skate her best..
