Who to trust - as always, linz - is up to the individual. Do YOU trust the government?

(I edited my original post to include some more info on the video.)

Anyway - if you haven't already, I encourage everybody to watch the entire piece when you have time.  it is the full length film, an hour and 20 minutes.  At the very least you'll walk away with some disturbing questions in your mind.

At the worst, you'll realize there are very dangerous and powerful people who have colluded with many of our elected politicians and officials to commit the biggest crime AND the biggest cover-up in history.  And lied to the entire world about it.

I know that Mixey is completely upset as to
why firefighters and others searching the "Pile" of
building remains and potential bodies were not issued
even the most simple of face masks to protect them
 from inhaling toxic material.
I have owned commercial sand blasters, and they
have air filtering systems built into them that protect
the machine operator. Even with the potent air filters,
they do not reccomend using silica sand for a blast media in the machines.
The concrete dust seen blanketing most of the
city close to the event was composed of silica sand
and dust from the smashed concrete.
When you inhale silica dust, it starts shredding the
interior of your lungs like inhaling glass shards, and
also accumulates deposits of concrete like material
that cannot be coughed up or expelled totally.
Any engineer or construction worker knows the
risks of not wearing proper masks in that kind of
environment. The City and Port authority engineers
were more than aware of these risks, and did nothing
to povide the "Pile" workers with even the minimum
 of cheap masks.  CRIMINAL
Those jive paper masks that you see in hospitals
would not be effective for even a FEW MINUTES near
that site. Masks having screw-in round filters,[ like
you see being worn in auto body shops] work pretty
well up to a point, but the filter cartriges must be
changed quite often in dusty situations. The only
real effective masks should have been the type that
require an out-side fresh air supply, [like you would
see when a spray painter is using them painting a
very large vehicle, over large sufaces, in an enclosed
 area.
The huge law suits now hitting the fan are a direct
result of the City and Port Authority dropping the ball
on protecting the workers and firemen.
Looks like the lawyers will rip off the lion's share
of the settlement money, and the victims will continue
to suffer...making the disaster of 9/11 all the worse,
 9 years after the fact.

Linz... a very good question!

How does "knowing the truth" make any difference?  Why is it worth caring?

Especially when we ordinary folk haven't the money or resources
to rise up and bring down the kind of people and organizations
that would execute such a horrendous plan?

I think the necessary answer is this:
It's not enough to bury your head in the sand. Or to blindly follow leaders.
History is RICH with examples of what happens when the masses lie down
to tyranny and allow themselves to be steamrolled by greedy, malajusted
humans who don't care for their fellow man.

We didn't stop Hitler before it was too late.  Look what happened.

After 911 our news organizations rolled over and played dead - as did congress -
after The Bush administration circled it's wagons in the most brilliantly devised
power grab EVER in American history.  And because the news organizations were
frightened and cowed during this time - as were many politicians -
the Bush Administration was able to get away with a laundry list
of the most aggregious offenses to our freedoms and liberty
that have been fomented in a long time.  The key figures in these
crimes will most likely never be brought to justice.

So ... in this case ... did burying our heads in the sand and walking away
from the truth help us?  Is the world better off now than it was in 2001?
Has the world become safer?  Are more people wealthier?  Happier?

It may be troublesome, inconvenient, even dangerous at times to stare
down the truth and stand up to those who do bad things... to call out
those whose actions hurt us all.  Even when they cloak their actions
in the name God, or America, or The Queen.

I'm getting too old to keep quiet anymore.  I have two kids who will outlive me.
I am ashamed about the world they're inheriting, and fearful about the odds that
they'll be able to lead safe, happy, and prosperous lives.

All my life I've seen that most leaders are corrupted by power and money.
And I've learned that we CANNOT take our eyes off them for one second.
That we CANNOT trust what they are telling us.
Because history has proven again and again
that they lie and conceal bad truths FAR more
often than they do righteous deeds and
protect us as they have sworn to do.

And IF we all payed attention...
then maybe we WOULDN'T get fooled again.

Maybe it WOULD matter that we had cared in the first place.
Whether it made us angry or not.

You guys are very bright..........It takes me too long to form my replies and I have to say that some of the posts on here are awesome...........even the bad ones.lol. It sounds like Jeff is saying to me that we need to be proactive...and not be afraid. I have come to the conclusion that we are being ruled and that we do not live in a free country. I believe we are being manipulated on a daily basis.........too much information. I say I am a socialist but I realize only up to a point. I want Walmarts closed and divided up and a whole street of shops with relaxed and happier people selling and becoming experts at what they know. I do not dismiss the idea of exchanging money nor would I take a mans powerboat away from him........Reward is important.
I just want things spread out better.........I want the butter spread to the edges of the slice of bread and not heaped in the center.

My country was once ruled by a single family that when extended developed a network to protect itself throughout the continent.......it found other powerful families from other nations and found a way to keep order and most importantly the money and wealth of nations in the hands of the network. crazily from time to time one part of the network would deem that they had the right to change the rules and enforce their will upon the others and one such indeed set out upon an Armada.......skill,stupidity and luck ended that fracas.....hence one family from a tiny country threatened to take the world from us all...........When the commoner took power not much changed either. America stood up and took the reigns of her own progression but did exactly what was done in the past........attempted to rule the world but this time through manipulation of finance ( murdering or assisting in the murder of resistance) .......So the Attack on the Financial center of New York was inevitable. Like the Americans skirmished against the world power the terrorists now pick targets.

We study History to repeat it;it seems.

Thats my Boy!

Linz,

Judging by your post I think you and I share many of the same viewpoints.

I DO feel we have to be proactive as citizens to hold our government and
our politicians in check.  All you have to do is look around to see what
happens when we get too engrossed in our own lives and stop
paying attention... the greedy and powerful tread boldly all over us.

And I agree that we seem doomed to allow history to repeat itself again
and again.  I don't know which it is ... whether it's that we aren't capable
as homosapiens of remembering the most painful and costly lessons we're taught,
or that we're simply lazy and don't care.  Maybe a little of both.

Which is why I feel it's crucial to our survival as a nation, as a civilization
that we try to pay attention, and ask hard questions of our leaders.

Citizens should take the same approach with our politicians that our
military and diplomatic leaders take with certain troublesome nations: "Trust ... but verify."

Like yourself I'd like to see the many smaller vendors and shops come back.
Unfortunately, those days are gone.  I'm not all that enamored with Walmart either.
Walmart's proliferation has come at a great cost to many former vendors,
dealers, and shopowners.

Toad...
You're right about the cartridge masks... but not vapor cartridges... They should have been wearing HEPA filter masks... and really... airline respirators for that level would have been right, but unfortunately not practical.  They would have had to change those masks every hour.

The residents and businesses should have been shut down as well.  These people should have been relocated for their safety.

The EPA was going to have a press conference about all of this at the time.  I remember it was scheduled for 5pm.  Someone canceled it.  Shortly thereafter, the head of the EPA resigned.

Victims from 911 are still dying.

Retraction...
In thinking it over... I'm wrong for saying that we will move any more name-calling posts in the 911 thread into The Woof House.

Feeling that that was necessary, and saying that I'll do that, actually goes against my original position that if we don't appreciate something in a post, we can and should just hit the minus button and ignore it.

Dream,
You made a good point in the thread in The Shroom Room, that being that The Woof House can't be seen from the outside... it does feel like being deleted.

I wasn't going to wipe away anyone's posts from Soulful Planet, but they would have been made unavailable to the non-membership viewing public. The Woof House, which is in The Shroom Room, can't be seen unless you're a member of Soulful Planet.

Nora,
I thought that everyone here understood what The Woof House was about.  It's more of a good natured place than not.

Lindsay's post was the only one moved.  It's been put back into this thread.

Mixey,

It's nice to see the "mission statement" of Soulful Planet (or the intent thereof) being upheld.

It's encouraging to see that you consider these issues carefully and seriously.

That is what makes me want to contribute to this forum.

Sounds good to me because we would not want anyone worrying that they may have made themselves look bad and that they had no defence and be denied the ability to make references here, there and everywhere... because it was removed out of sight but not out of tortured memory. Personally I hope this calms down things and that the ignore button is used in future. No one owns a thread its made public: you made it public by posting and what is posted is there for eternity and those on the sidelines that enjoy a good difference of opinion,squabble....screeching row can become supporters of or not whomever you please with free popcorn.

How Soulful is that being.

Thank You Mixey........

I watched a program last night regarding conspiracy theories, true or false about 911.

I'm annoyed with people who speak about things they don't know for sure.

What I know, is that people died in those towers and on the ground and in those planes.

I feel sad for their families; and for all of the workers who have died and who are still suffering.

Blessings to all of them.
With much love,
Mixey

It certainly has Dream.

I listened to a woman, who lost her brother.
I was struck by how much pain it caused her, when people were being hostile to our government, in response to 911, without knowing facts.

I understand her pain, because regardless of whether the theories are right or wrong, she and her family had been consoled by members of the Bush administration at the time. THAT was her truth.

I think that right or wrong, people should respect the victim's truths on a day like today.

Looking into the truth of what really happened on 911 and who is to blame is important; but not today, in my opinion.

Mixey
