Hi Nora...
Nothing wrong in saying what you feel.

Toad...
I agree... giving personal opinions and bashing others without discussion doesn't move anyone forward.

Dream...
I'm sick of people who bash people who have put their lives on the line to defend our freedoms as well.

~  ~  ~  ~  ~

I'm extremely sick of people who are in power, who take advantage of our brave souls in the military, by lying to them and putting them in harms way unnecessarily for their own power hungry gains.

I'm also extremely sick of those in the military who behave like depraved, blood thirsty animals while they're on their missions, and then it's covered up.

I'm sick of heartless editing of the reality of seeing the images of the flag draped coffins of our fallen millitary.

I'm sick of Americans in power, who are not honoring Americans.

I'll never be sick of people who speak their truths, even if their truths are not popular.

Mixey
on as S. P. A. T., but speaking my own opinions, not necessarily shared by the rest of our team.

There is a major differance between being
a citizen and being a member of the US military...
 whatever branch of service.
We now have voluntary military service. No one is being "pressed" into service like when the draft was
invoked. As citizens we enjoy all the freedoms afforded
to us by our government. As military members we are in
the direct control of the pentagon leaders[for whatever
branch] and the President of the United States.
Citizen follow their own directions...whatever they
may be. Military members follow orders from those in
higher command. Citizens are supposed to follow
the rule of laws. Soldiers are supposed to follow orders.
Citizens are innocent untill proven guilty in a court
of law. Soldiers are guilty untill proven innocent in a
 military court.
Citizens enjoy all the freedoms the country can
provide. Soldiers give up many freedoms to serve, but
that is what they signed up for, and they make that
sacrifice of their own free will. Soldiers serve so the
rest of us don't have to. They should be respected for
their sacrifice and service, and not by what they are
ordered to do. What soldiers do falls at the feet of
higher command, and the Commander-In-Chief. [ The
 President.]

      Lindz,
I can agree that many..many millions of people
may not care at all about the 9/11 event, but what does that have to do about this thread, or about how
 Americans feel about 9/11 ???
There are millions of Americans that are effected
and concerned about the 9/11 event, and their concern
will not be fading anytime soon given all these recent
 terror incidents happening lately.
The quality of life you have as you live, love, hurt,
and die depends a lot on where you are. If you would
rather be going through this mess in your former
home...I understand that. There is no place like home,
regardless of where you now are.
Not too many immigrants in this country want to
assimilate into our way of life, or adopt our views and
 politics. It's a tribal thing.

        Mickey,
You are out of line. WAY OUT.
Your comment to Lindz might fly on some forums
but not this one. DO NOT attempt to corrupt this
forum with that form of attack.

Thats not the way I see it Toad.

Lindsay has no right to come here and insult people who dont agree with his veiwpoints.  I for one am not going to put up with that crap.  I also made it clear I dont like Lindsay, so therefore I cant say anything kind to him.

Instead of jumping on me Toad you ought to get on him.  He started this thing.  Whose side are you on????

        Mickey,
If you don't care for his posts, views, or him..that
is your business. He has the same rights as you do here. If you don't like his views or words, hit the minus
button. Don't think you are needed to defend others here. Your not. They are capable of voicing their own
 protests and defending themselves.
I don't want anyone telling me who to love, hate,
 embrace or reject. You included.
I don't believe that Lindz is the only person in this

America at this time. Is this quote correct?

Lindzay is the issue because he made himself the issue.  This is not the first time this has happened with him.  He seeks attention by insulting others on a personal level who do not agree with his views.  When the tables are turned he cries foul.  This thread was started in 2007 and most of the posts reflect that.  Lindsay started it up again with his crude remarks about 9/11.  Some may call it discussion, I don't.  I call it baiting by someone who thrives on personal attacks.

The I.R.A. killed a friend of mine. I know all about terrorists ..........but you of course  were remote from all of that and prolly never gave a thought to the killing going on across the pond. I did care a great deal about what happened that day..............my wife to be was brave and visited me in the Uk the very next month.

I care about a lot of things ..........but thinking that the rest of the world should stop working because of that attack         is just not going to happen.

Honest opinion thats all ..............Ask Rush about freedom to say what you want .

Well said Nora!!  I am sick and tired of all the bashing of this country and the military who have sacrificed their lives so we may live in freedom.  If all these countries hate us so much, why don't they turn down the financial aid we send.  If people hate this country so much why are there so many coming into the country legally and illegally to live here.  Could it be there lives would be better here?

The United States has its faults, no doubt.  However, I cannot think of a better place to live.  As Winston Churchill said, Democracy is the worst form of governement until you try something else.  If people come here and don't like it, stop living off us and go back to where you came from.

 I never bashed the military?.

If I sat down and considered all of the battles my little country has fought for its survival over the last millennium I`d  have no day left do do what the wife has denoted on my daily to do list.

I`m too old to enlist. I`d like to be an air raid warden though cuz I would have an easy time of it over here and I like shouting " Turn that F--king light out"

A suggestion for those bothered by Lindsay's words.

It may be true that Lindsay IS making his statements just to stir the pot ...
some of his prior posts here do seem worded "for effect."  Perhaps he
does have an emotional need to get a rise out of folks and re-train the
spotlight on himself.  I don't know if this is the case; and I don't care.

But if you're irked, here's your best defense: don't feed the fire.
Children who squall for attention always grow tired of ranting when
they're paid no attention.  Works every time.

Remember Oscar Wilde's timeless words:
"The only thing worse than being talked about ... is not being talked about."

I encourage everyone to share your opinions freely.  And to always do it
with civility and class.  I've left angry posts here that I later regretted.
In the last half year I've struggled with a nasty injury and depression;
I've been in a lot of pain.  And I finally had an "A-HA!" moment where I
realized I had to step back and check my frame of mind before I started
typing.  I've actually walked away from the keyboard a LOT recently.

Here on the internet, the words you leave behind stay behind.
And your words will mark you and qualify you as much as deeds do.

Those who would use words to ply and manipulate will be seen for what they are.
Those who use words to engage and enlighten will also be judged accordingly.
Think twice before typing.  And remember: nobody can piss you off
without your permission.

 Toad..........

My original post.

"Tis getting a little dull now..............Its past and whoever is to blame has been punished by now, mainly the many followers of the terrorist fandango. I say that since no one has been able to pin point the blame; Nope not Bin Laden either lets put it down now. It was upsetting and scary but its not a great deal up against what the west has done to others and other nations in the name of what we say we believe in...............Its history.

Imagine if you had to live through the Blitz?"

I thought it a valid point that many have been punished. I hope that the many were the right ones. I dread that more than a few of those punished were indeed not the ones that ought to have taken the brunt of a nations anger. I believe attacking a country rather that weeding out the element that deserved to be made an example of was wrong.  I felt sickened to my stomach when  I saw those planes fly into those buildings.......but odd as it might sound I  kind of understood why and annoyingly I have never found an eloquent way of saying why I felt that way .

I tend to believe now that the whole thing is being used to make political ground..................far worse than what I said.  I am thinking about making an apology for any upset I may have caused but not for what I think.
I should have started another thread.

Do not fret I shall be back and prolly a bigger asshole tomorrow.:)

          Lindz,
I am glad to see you using more than one short
paragraph to explain your position and views.
The peoples that the US has punished for 9/11
are a varied group. Only a select few had anything to do with the attack.
The administrations of the US government over the
last fifty years has fueled the muslim hatred directed
towards America. Most all of the foreign policy decisions
by these administrations will never see the light of day
due to the cries of "national security issues" that we
 hear all the time.
US foreign policy has been dictated to the administrations from groups that are "secret," and
above citizen scrutiny. If anyone questions their
actions, we are told the same old line.... It is a
 matter of "National Security."
As secret as they wish to remain, the internet is
now disclosing most of their actions world wide.
It is the select "alphabet" orginizations that are
setting foreign policy that the normal citizens, and
congressional [voted in ] represenatives have little
 or no control over.
CIA, NSA, CFR, and groups like the Tri-laterial
commision have had major control over foreign policy
going back to the beginning of the cold war.
This is why we will never learn the true story of
9/11...who, what, and why. The real blame is shared
by hundreds..some living and some long dead.
Bin Ladin and his followers are the "Boggie men"
we are told to blame. Once he is removed, a new
Boogie man will emerge, shifting the focus away from
the real folks who are doing the damage.
The average citizen has no input or ability to stop
this madness, and we will probably never see the end of it untill the country crashes like the Romans... and
 then it won't really matter.

The cries heard every election period by the two
primary political parties is always the same.....
"Lets take control of this government BACK TO
 THE PEOPLE ! "
The big question we need to be asking is when
did "The People" have anything to do with running
the government?..... here or anywhere else.

I made no secret about my dislike for Lindsay, and I cannot post on the same forum as him.

As they say in the west, this town isnt big enough for the both of us, and i know Mixey wont throw Lindsay off this forum (even though in my opinion thats what she should do because his behaviour here is inexcusable).   If yall want to argue with that piece of shit, be my guest.  I dont need the noise.

Mickey,  that's giving Lindzay what he wants.  I fully understand how you feel, but I hope you'll reconsider.  I, too, am tired of his remarks and insults.  I intend to take a break from it.  Jeff, is right about ignoring him and not giving him fuel for his fire.  I already decided I'm through communicating with him on this forum and through reading his posts.  He's not worth the time or effort.

You bet I'll see you on Facebook - that's where we spend most of our time these days anyway.  We get to pick and choose who we associate with there and that's a good thing.

I hope you'll come back here from time to time.  We don't always agree but we've managed to deal with each other in a civil manner - I respect that and I respect and like you, too.

In the meantime, see you on FB.

Don't split.  Not over this.

You've contributed a LOT to this forum. It would be a shame to lose your input.  I've learned about some really cool bands and artists through your posts and I especially look forward to these posts.  We'd be losing your particular expertise here, and that'd be a drag.

Sure, you can post on FB ...but FB ain't like this place.

        I didn't find Lindzay's original post offensive,
and wasn't offended by it. I didn't see where he made
any statements regarding the military. I didn't see
any disrespect for the victims of 9/11.
I did read his displeasure of US foreign policy,
which I agree with him about. His post questioned
the story the American people have been fed about
"Cause" of 9/11. I question that story too.
I'm too damn old for knee-jerk reactions. If you
hit me hard in the head I may scream out an hour later.
I don't believe Lindz is just "Baiting" people here.
I think he is seeking answers for things that may be
 of concern to him.
